Mobile insurance didn’t cover coronavirus

The organizer of the Mobile World Congress had contracted 120 million euros of cancellation insurance covering everything: including threats, terrorist acts, disturbances and of course, “force majeure”. This policy cost 500,000 Euros but did not include disease pandemics (such as coronavirus), which was a supplemental policy costing under 30,000 euros.

A first estimate calculates that the organization must return 170 million euros in space rental, claims for exhibitors’ expenses (stand design, hosts, hotels, trips, etc.) as well as ticket refunds.
